One of the falsehoods to which many believe is the Griko not conducive to children, we lose time to teach a language spoken so little. This is because the Italian can only be used here, while finding a job should learn English instead of filling his head with griko words that are not of any use. A
martanese I had met in Siena told me that he remembered some griko song he had learned as a child, but they were like residues, "garbage that occupied space in your head." So he made me understand how he seemed right that the Griko disappear and that it not be taught to children.
We know now that things are not so. Many scholars believe that two languages \u200b\u200bare useful, and last year released a study published in a magazine scientifica1 which showed that children born in places where they speak two languages \u200b\u200bto learn more successful then others.
So you see that if the parents of our parts Griko had been taught to children, they were now better able to learn English. It is shown that the words are not learned griko dross that take up space our heads but can also benefit by entering a world that does not speak neither Italian nor griko and where should learn English and many other languages.
